Question

Q: Renewed Code Signing Certificate not trusted by SmartScreen Filter This thread is locked from future replies

Hi,

Last year (2011) we gained enough downloads of our software for our code signing certificate to be trusted by IE9 SmartScreen Filter. We renewed our code signing certificate 2012 for a one year period and this new certificate is not trusted!!!

I can understand the need for a new certificate to build up reputation with the SmartScreen Filter but a RENEWED certificate should really inherit the reputation of the old certificate as it is renewed and issued to the same entity.

(It seems the current IE9 SmartScreen Filter performs the reputation check based on the certificate serial number, instead of to whom it has been issued to. The logical and fair thing to do would be to check reputation of the certificate based on to the entity (company name or person) the certificate has been issued to)

This is a major issue for us as our entire business depends on people downloading our software, are you in the IE9 or IE10 team going to fix this??

With best regards,
Hans Sixhöj
