Internet Explorer 9 Beta - Slow performance on Thinkpad T60 when running on battery

guyvista asked on

Hi,

I'm running a:

Thinkpad T60
Core Duo 1.6 Processor (Dual Core)
4gb Ram (3.0gb usuable)
Windows 7 32 bit

I am running the Windows 7 SP1 beta.

I have downloaded and installed the Internet Explorer 9 beta.

When plugged in, it's great!

However, when I'm on a battery, even with no other programs running, and only a tab open, Internet Explorer 9 is very sluggish.  For example, as I type this message, there is a lag in the text box.

(Note: Internet Explorer 8, Chrome, and Firefox are/were all fine on battery.  Issue is specific to IE 9 beta).

Is this a known issue?

Best,

Brett

Hey Brett,

We will still need to test to see if you see if your performance is better when using the battery when forcing software rendering:

·        Click Start

·        Type Internet Options

·        Press Enter on your keyboard

·        Click the Advanced tab

·        Check the Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering* box

·        Click OK

·        Open Internet Explorer

If your performance is better than when using battery and using hardware rendering, this would indicate that either something is throttling your GPU when you are on battery power or your video card and/or driver doesn’t fully support GPU hardware acceleration.
