Running Windows 7 Home premium and IE9
When I try to download an .exe file from the internet I have the following problem:-
I click on "download" on the website.
The usual box comes up giving me the option to "run" , "save" or "save as".
"run" works OK, giving me the option to instal the file.
"save" and "save as" don't have any effect, so it is not possible for me to save to disc, rather than installing directly.
None executable files such as .jpg give the options to "save" or "save as", but again these options don't work so I cannot save them at all.
After much experimenting with UAC, disabling firewalls and antivirus, etc, I uninstalled the IE9 update and reverted to IE8.
Everything now works OK. However I would like to reinstall IE9 because of it's better security, but first I need to have an idea of what is
causing the problem. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
