IE8 web page opening zip file from link

Guy's,

I have IE8, standard setup.

I have an online ordering application i login to that i use to download and print invoices.

The process:

I login to website, go to invoices section then list my invoices, there is a print button that i click on for each or one invoice, when i click it it is supposed to open another window then automatically bring up the save/download/open dialogue box to open a zip file that contains the invoice in pdf format.

what happens is that once this file is brought up on screen to select your option the ie window closes automatically.

My issue is that when i click the print button the second web page opens then the box comes up asking do i want to close the web page, no zip file shows up or downloads.

I have java as i think it's a java app, i have disables and enabled java, updted to latest version, updated ie etc but without luck.

I have a VM running ie7 and same issue, i also have other co-workers that don't have the issue and others that do.

Any ideas where to look?

Leo

Well, as no one can access this site to see what happens only a general advice:

Use the usual methods to identify the third-party software that produces
your problem:
1. run IE in "No Add-Ons" mode
2. disable third-party extensions in Internet Options/Advanced
3. boot Windows in safe mode (with networking)

If any or a combination of the above solves your problem there is third-
party software responsible for your problem. Note: you have to surf in
each step long enough to identify if the problem persists or not and keep that functionality switched off when you change to the next step.
Just booting into safe mode and then back to normal won't achieve anything.
If 1.: use Add-Ons-Manager and disable all non-Microsoft add-ons and
reenable them step-by-step until your problem comes back
If 2.: that's likely a toolbar or some other installable add-on
If 3.: that's likely a third-party software run from startup that can but
doesn't need to have "visible" connections to IE, for instance
       a so-called desktop search.
Go thru all steps! Don't tell us "I don't have any add-ons". You sure have!

Answer

Hey Leo,

Take a look at this KB article and go through the methods provided. I know you can access the website without problems, but I believe this problem is related (at least in part) to the fact that it’s a https website.

You cannot log in to or connect to secured Web sites in Internet Explorer (ignore the title)

Look forward to hearing back from you.
