Question

Q: Memory leak in IE8 when using a JS based web app This thread is locked from future replies

We have recently released a Javascript based version for some parts of our web app and our customers are complaining about IE8 getting slower through out the day to the point that it becomes unresponsive and they have to restart it or even reboot the machines.

Upon investigation, we found that the memory usage in IE8 increases by 20M or more each time one of the new JS based pages is unloaded. The flow to see this issue it simple: from a static web page we load a page which renders the HTML using Javascript. Then, the page is unloaded and the previous static HTML page is reloaded. I can provide a URL and details to someone that might help.

I am able to repro this issue on Windows XP SP3, with IE8. I have ran Windows Update recently, I also ran IE8 without add-ons and reset its advanced settings as instructed herehttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737
