When ever I try to sign into a website be it yahoo mail or hotmail or my banking websites it get this error:
The security certificate presented by this website was not issued by a trusted certificate authority.
I have installed a new virus software and ran a full scan only to come up with nothing. I have checked my date and time and those are correct. Please help.

Answer

Assuming your time, date & time-zone settings are all correct...

Open Internet Explorer (only!) to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com | Select CUSTOM and scan | Install any security updates offered.

    • If a Root Certificates update and/or KB971029 is listed in the Optional Software updates category on the left-hand side of the scan results window, install it/them to take full advantage of WinXP's enhanced security.

    • Tip: Do NOT install any other Optional Software updates nor any Optional Hardware updates!
