Can't change my home page

I caught a virus in some website, and now I am unable to change my homepage. When i go to internet options, the homepage box is "gray", and in the bottom of the window it says "some settings are managed by your system admnistrator".

This is strange because I am the admnistrator of this computer, so, if anyone knows how to solve this problem i would be appretiated.

Best regards,

Pedro

Hi PedroBatista1,

Method 1

I would first suggest that you scan the computer for any malware or virus infections using online virus scanner and check if it works.

The below scan only works on 32 bit version of Windows

http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm

You may use Microsoft security essentials to scan your computer

http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

Method 2

If the above step fails then check if the below settings are correct using group policy editor on the computer.

a)   Click on Start menu and type gpedit.msc in the run box and press enter

b)   This would open group policy editor, navigate to the below mentioned location.

User configuration>Windows component>Internet exploreron the left pane double click on “disable changing home page” and make sure that it is not set to “Enable

Hope this helps!
