Windows Mail Error Code 0x800ccc17

Windows Security keeps asking for User Name and Password when trying to open Windows Mail. Removed and re-entered account info and changed incoming server to secure status-still won't open. Can't turn Email Scan off on my Windows Live OneCare.Yesterday error code said- Server Response :'ERR[AUTH] Authentication failed ', Port:110, Secure(SSL) No, Server Error:0x800ccc90, Error Number: 0x800ccc92. Today the Error Number changed to 0x800ccc17. Can't find answer anywhere on Microsoft Site.

Hello, Leeda

For testing purposes, just create a new account/profile and do not copy files over. When you create the account, select an Administrator account.

To create a new profile, you must first create a new user account. When the account is created, a profile will also be created.

1.

Open User Accounts by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking User Accounts and Family Safety (or clicking User Accounts, if you are connected to a network domain), and then clicking User Accounts.

2.

Click Manage another account. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

3.

Click Create a new account.

4.

Type the name you want to give the user account, click an account type, and then click Create Account.

After you create the new account, logout of Windows, and then login to the account you just created.

When you are logged into the new account, follow the steps provided in Rami’s second link (http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/bb076a7c-7e78-45b4-a414-03c7270ae0861033.mspx) to setup the email account.

If you are able to check your mail correctly, your profile may be corrupted, and we can continue from there.

We look forward to hearing back from you.
