Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) How to Organize Favorites by Date Chronologically?

Somehow my favorites got organized by name and I want them to go back to being organized by the date they were added.

How can this be done? An internet search turns up suggestions to "un-check" the Sort by Name option, BUT it is not a "check-able" option. It just goes ahead and sorts with no option to undo or un-check.

The only other suggestion I've found has people finding the Favorites folder and making a shortcut of it on the desktop. That is an annoying work-around, not a fix to Internet Explorer.

I'd also like to know how the alpha sort happened in the first place, because I did not choose it. Is there a virus that messes with IE7 favorites?

Hi villapiazza,

Welcome to Microsoft Answers!

By design of the Internet Explorer you cannot sort “Favorites” by Date.

Once you have chosen the option to “Sort by Name” you can only manually re-arrange the link to sort by date. But by default you cannot sort it by Date.

Let me know if this helped.
