Can't maximize internet explorer

Our Internet Explorer 8.0 window won't show on our desktop screen. When you open the program, the icon shows up in the taskbar, and rollover shows there is a "window" open (MSN.com by HP Desktop - Window Explorer), but the window won't maximize. This happened after our daughter was playing on the computer. Any ideas?

Answer

The window is opening 'off-screen'.

For Vista and earlier Windows versions:

Right click on the minimized window tab on the Taskbar and select Move. Now use the arrow keys to get it in the screen. Close all other windows except this one and use the cursor to drag the message to full screen size. File | Exit, and Windows will remember the size when you open it again.

For Windows 7:
