VS 2005 application - web browser control crashes when opening a mht file in application folder after installing Patch KB3185330, October 2016 security monthly quality rollup for Windows 7 SP1

Hi All,

I have a Click-Once application that was created in VS 2005. It uses web browser control to open a mht file stored in the application folder. After installing Patch KB3185330, October 2016 security monthly quality rollup for Windows 7 SP1, the 'navigate to' method is producing an error and the application crashes. Even if the mht file is opened in IE, the IE gets crashed.

If the mht file is moved to a location other than the application folder, then I am able to open the mht file in IE.

It would be great, any suggestions on opening the mht file in application folder itself in IE.

Error details:
