Unable to copy and paste links and texts after Internet Explorer 11 update

IE 11 recently downloaded on my computer through a Windows update. Since then, I have been experiencing 2 problems I'm not sure how to fix.

1. I can't copy a link from one website and post to another and have it remain active. As far as I can tell it's not copying text or links.

2. Two identical homepage tabs open when I start IE 11- rather than just one.

I tried reseting IE options to no avail.

Any suggestions how to remedy this would be greatly appreciated.

Happy New Year!

Hello,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Community Forum.

I would like to know:

  1. Is this issue restricted to copy paste links and text in browser or are you not able to copy paste just any text?
  2. What do you mean when you say “and have it remain active”?
  3. When you say “I tried resetting IE options”, do you mean you tried resetting Internet Explorer settings?

Let’s try these methods below to check if that helps.

Method 1:

First, I would suggest you to run this Microsoft fixit to get this problem automatically detected and fixed.

http://support.microsoft.com/mats/ie_performance_and_safety/?wa=wsignin1.0

Method 2: Run Internet Explorer in no add-ons mode and check if issue persists.

While browser add-ons can enhance your online experience, they can occasionally interfere or conflict with other software on your computer. Try starting Internet Explorer without add-ons to see if the problem goes away.

Step 1: Run Internet Explorer without add-ons.

  1. Click the Start button. Click All Programs, click Accessories, click System Tools, and then click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).

If the problem does not occur after you use this method, use Manage Add-ons to determine which add-ons are causing the problem.

Step 2: Manage add-ons.

  1. Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type Internet Explorer, and then in the list of results, click Internet Explorer.
  2. Click the Tools button, and then click Manage Add-ons.
  3. Click an add-on in the Name list, and then click Disable.
  4. Repeat step 3 until you identify the add-on that is causing the problem.

Check whether the problem is fixed.

Method 3:

Disable and re-enable Internet Explorer from Add or Remove Windows feature and check if that solves the problem.

Follow the steps in the article below to turn off Internet explorer and turn back on.

Turn Windows feature On or Off

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/turn-windows-features-on-off#1TC=windows-7

Method 4:

If none of the method suggested above helps, Uninstall Internet Explorer 11 and check if issue persists.

After uninstalling Internet Explorer 11, windows will automatically go back to the previous Internet Explorer version, check if issue persists in the previous version. If issue does not occur again, install Internet Explorer 11.

Follow the steps in the article below to Uninstall and reinstall Internet Explorer 11
