turning off autoplay of flash videos

grfried asked on
In Firefox and Chrome I can prevent the auto playing of videos. To play the video I just click on the video. Why can't I do the same thing with IE? I do not want to go through the bother of ActiveX Filtering and then having to turn it off and on all the time. Any ideas

Hello,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft community. We are glad to assist you.

I would like to inform you that right now we can disable AutoPlay of flash videos on Internet Explorer by using the ActiveX Filter feature.

You can use Internet Explorer's ActiveX Filter feature to prevent videos from automatically starting as you visit websites. The filter can only be set to on or off for a website, so once you allow a site to play ActiveX content, all pages on that site will be able to play ActiveX content.

You may be able to set an option within the site that is playing the video to prevent the next video from automatically loading, but this isn't an option that is directly configurable through Internet Explorer's settings.

If you would like to try using ActiveX Filtering by referring to the link.

Hope this information is helpful. Please do let us know if you need further assistance with Windows, we’ll be glad to assist you.

Thank you.

This is not a satisfactory solution.  MS needs to reprogram IE to add a "stop autoplay" function that you don't have to constantly turn back on in order to watch every video out there.
