Internet Explorer 11 freezes my computer

For about a week I had been having a problem where Internet Explorer 10 was complaining, switching to compatibility mode, and then displaying blank pages for any web site.  I tried reseting per various postings.  I tried switching to software renndering.  Nothing seemed to work.  Yesterday I was going to investigate the possibility of fonts being a problem (based on another posting I read) but I noticed that IE 11 was available, so I installed that instead.  It appeared to install fine, but whenever I run it it freezes my computer in such a way that powering off is my only recourse.  I supposed I will try to roll back to previous restore points when I get a chance.  My chrome browser and all my other applications work fine, and I just did a full virus scan.  My primary suspect is a graphics driver update, although I don't recall one recently, and I am not sure why it would only affect IE.  Anyone else having trouble?

Hi,

I would suggest you to install the prerequisite update for Internet Explorer 11 and then download and install it in clean boot state and check.

Prerequisite updates for Internet Explorer 11

Now download Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 and install it in clean boot state.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/ie-11-worldwide-languages

Clean boot: To help troubleshoot error messages and other issues, you can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This kind of startup is known as a "clean boot." A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: Please refer to the section: How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot of the Kb article to boot the computer in normal startup after fixing the issue.

Let us know about the status of the issue. We would be happy to help you further.

That prerequisite page from the link you displayed in your reply is a lot of hassle just to get IE working. I'm currently dealing with a customer who has the same problem with IE11. This problem will lead to people using other browsers due to the unstable IE.

I have Windows 7. After about 3 or 4 system restores, I noticed that immediately after the computer was updated with Windows Explorer 11, it would freeze. I then decided to refuse updates beyond Windows Explorer 9, and the computer is working fine. I recommend rejecting updates for Windows Explorer 10 and 11.

Why not tell Gates with his BILLIONS to produce a package that works.  A first ever bug free browser and distribute it free to all the people like me who have spent a ton on always flawed software.

Same problem with Interenet Explorer 11 and Windows 7.

Had to push back to Internet Explorfer 9 and all worked well.

Trouble is--------------- Some sites say to Update Browser to newest one" (which is Internet Explorer 11) to work with page  or site.

Come on Microssoft----- can,t you fix this with an update??

This is terrible to mess with.

Had to go to Chrome Browser also. Don,t you want to have things

working  good? Or is this a "push to get Windows 10"????

Yes.  Why does Gates make such schlock software? Browsers are not a new technology.  They have been around since 1993 when Mosaic (later, Netscape) came on the market.  Internet Explorer came soon afterwards.  They have had over twenty years to create a reliable browser, and they still can't do it.  It's disgraceful.
