Question

Q: event ID 1000 and 1002 on internet explorer 11 for a windows 7 device

Hello everybody,

I have an issue with a windows 7 device. IE 11 crashes on open.

Event ID's in the logs: 1000 and 1002

The faulty .dll file according to logs-->Faulting module path: C:\Windows\syswow64\msvcrt.dll

BTW, lots of gaming apps on user device.

Troubleshoot:

1.- Start IE with no add-ons

2.- As the .dll is reported for being part of c++ runtime uninstalled and reinstalled c++ runtime 2008 and 2010

3.- Finally take ownership of the file, change permissions and rename the file

4.- Then run sfc /scannow--> detects the corrupted file and replaces it

5.- IE still crashes

Also got  IEdiagcmd.exe logs if you need them.

Please somebody help, I don't know what else to do.

Regards.

Answer

A:

Hi there,

All the crashes are pointing to msvcrt.dll.

Try opening Internet Explorer > Tools Internet Options > Advanced and under Accelerated Graphics, check Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering.

Unfortunately if this suggestion doesn't work, I have nothing more to add to this.

Thank you.

Did this solve your problem?

Sorry this didn't help.
