Websites think Surface is phone

us.movember.com thinks my Surface 2 is a mobile phone.  Shows the mobile site from IE.  Why?  Is there a setting that I can tell sites my Surface 2 is not a phone?
Thanks!

This is happening because IE11 changed the User Agent which is the string used by some sites to identify the browser. One solution is to go in desktop mode and add the site to the compatibility list.

I just checked and adding it to the compatibility view did not fix your issue. Your best option is to contact the company and ask to change the way they are recognizing the Surface 2.

This is the string used by S2

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; ARM; Trident/7.0; Touch; rv:11.0) like Gecko

This is the string used by a Windows Phone

Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 10.0; Windows Phone 8.0; Trident/6.0; IEMobile/10.0; ARM; Touch; NOKIA; Lumia 810)

Many sites look for ARM and if it's found switch to Mobile. Other are looking for the token MSIE and it's not found they assume that the client is not using IE.

As you can see the string used in IE11 doesn't contain anymore MSIE.

Thanks for the super awesome technical answer.  Ultimately it's another strike against the Surface.  MS needs to add a simple on/off setting that says something like "make websites think you are a desktop."

Well, the problem is not exactly the S2 but IE11 and web sites where the code behind is not up today.

well designed sites as always an option at the bottom linking to the full site or desktop full view site 😉

So in my opinion is more the web designer issue than MS issue.

@CtitanicMVP Answered with a bunch of tecnical jargon and basically said the entire Internet should adapt to the Surface...  not really, but I like to exagerate b/c it pisses people off.

There are sooo many good things about the Surface and a few things that really suck.  The fact that MS people can't acklowledge that is part of the problem..

This is so bad that even the pages redirect me to the Windows Phone website to install an app (moviecityplay.com), I can not believe it! and none of the answers given by the forum moderators work then we users are left with no solution? Microsoft I don't like you very much at this moment.

I know... this is such a drag.... I moved my Surface back to 8,0 just so I do not have to deal with this nonsense.  I cant believe with all the folks having various complaints on the same issue, that MS does not do something about this....
