Hello,

The aaresource.dll is related to the Amazon Assistant for Internet Explorer 11. You can disable or even uninstall it to fix your issue. To uninstall Amazon assistant, follow the steps below:

  1.  Go to Control Panel then Programs and Features.
  2. Select the Program then click uninstall.
  3. Wait for the process to finish.

Give us an update on what happens.

I am unable to get to my control panel to take off the amazon assistant because my whole monitor turned black.  I do not know how I even got to my internet connection.  When I am on the internet, my monitor works fine, so I don't think there is a problem with my monitor.

I inadvertently voted that the above reply helped my situation, but it did not.  I went into manage add-ons, but the Amazon Assistant is not listed, nor is it listed when I go into the program button on my internet options.

I did not add this amazon assistant to my computer and am not very happy that it is there. I try to click on the icon, but it won't let me do anything like disable it or anything.  I am very frustrated.

My computer won't allow me to uninstall Amazon Assistant,

I installed Malwarebytes and ran it and it found a virus according to other sites that causes this issue but it came back after the computer was started 3 or 4 times.

The plugin for Amazon Assistant isn't used in Mozilla or Internet explorer on my computer, I am running out of ideas.

Maybe take a look at the registry.

This has happened to two of our office computers and my personal laptop after the recent Windows update.

All three systems have "uninstall" grayed out on Amazon Assistant. I've tried forcing uninstall through the command console and can't get it to happen on any of the PCs.

There's something wrong here for it to happen at multiple places. The three computers did have Amazon Assistant installed before the recent windows update.

Edit** Hmmm, the uninstall just worked...haha...why didn't it work the last two days?! Strange.

Hello Leslie,

Boot your computer in Safe Mode and go to Control Panel and try to uninstall Amazon Assistant. By booting your computer in Safe Mode, this will also check if a driver conflict is causing your monitor to turn black. If your monitor does not turn black in Safe Mode it means there is a possible problem in your graphics driver.

Give us an update on what happens.

Even when booted in safe mode still wasn't able to uninstall Amazon Assistant.

I never had the black screen problem, sorry for the confusion.

Hi,

If the issue still occurs, we suggest that you perform a clean boot of your computer and uninstall Amazon assistant again. Clean boot  is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This is to check for software conflicts.

Give us an update.

Thank you all for your suggestions.  I ended up taking my CPU to someone to fix my problem.  I couldn't do most of your suggestions because of the black screen and unable to get to the control panel.

I really like this site and will use it net time I have a problem.  Thanks again

Leslie,

Hopefully they didn't charge you much.

Just as an FYI, I don't mean this in a bad way, but you took your "computer" to someone...not your "cpu". Just trying to help with language here. My boss (67) says "cpu" too. The "cpu" is just the processor in your computer. Saying I took my "cpu" is saying that you took your computer apart and took just the "processor" to someone, heheh.

CPU = central processing unit, which is just 1 of many parts in your computer/laptop.

It's like saying "I took my gear box to the shop to get it fixed" when you mean "I took my car to the shop to get it fixed".

"I took my computer/laptop/desktop to someone to fix my problem" is the proper language/usage.

;)

Shandy706,  You did not hurt my feelings... I am 68 years old, so I guess I think just like your boss because of my age, LOL.

The place I use is very reasonable on the prices, as I have used them quite a few times in the past.

Thanks again for your suggestion and best wishes to you.
