Internet Explorer 11 "will not be supported soon"?

Why does my computer keep saying that internet explorer will not be supported soon, what is going on and will we have a fix for the problem of me getting the message of browser is out of date?

* Original title: INTERNET EXPLORER 11

Hi there! My name is Steve. I'm a Windows expert and user like you, and I'm happy to help.

Unfortunately the message you're seeing is correct as Internet Explorer is an older internet browser that will soon no longer be supported by Microsoft. This means that if you continue to use it after it's no longer supported then you won't benefit from updates and fixes which keep the web browser secure.

Microsoft Edge is Microsoft's replacement web browser for Internet Explorer and can be found in Windows 10. I would recommend to use Edge and keep Internet Explorer use only to when you find something isn't compatible with Edge.

You can find Edge in the Windows 10 Start menu.

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance!

Thank you Steve for the information, sorry to hear that , for my apps that I have to use Edge does not work well. So I guess I have to start using Chrome or Firefox, one of them.

That's no problem!

You will still be able to use Internet Explorer to access apps that aren't compatible with Edge or other browsers but the recommendation from Microsoft is now only to use Internet Explorer for compatibility purposes.

If there is anything else that I can help with please let me know, otherwise have a great day!

last month my desktop computer did an automatic update (will not let me shut off automatic updates). I work from home as an independent contractor for a company out of state. I have one program that I have always have been able to sign into and since the update, I cannot.

I need this program to process claims, every time I try to set the default to internet explorer it will not let me - still opens it

in edge. Microsoft is seeing as it as an unsafe site, which it is not. How do I get it allow me to open in internet explorer instead of edge?

I have tried every thing that has been suggested online and in my computer and nothing will default to internet explorer.

thanks

1. Windows 10?

2. In Start > Settings > Apps > Default apps > if Internet Explorer is

not the default web browser, set it as default.

Does that help?

1. What (name a few) apps are opening in Edge?

2. If you weren't getting the "unsafe site" warning, would the

   program/site open in Edge?

3. Do you have any other browsers (Chrome, Firefox) installed?
