IE11: no download dialog window when trying to get a file as a response from a send form in iframe

Hi,

I'm sending a form through post method. After submit a file - an image, should be saved / opened.

Works fine without iframe, but doesn't work in an iframe.

In iframe: Network tab in Developer Tools shows the Result / Description as 200 OK for the request, but no dialog window shows.

Simplified demo (with JSON instead of an image) showing the problem can be found here: http://jsfiddle.net/qcc53uyt/3/

Steps: press the "Get something button"

When comparing with other browsers (Edge, Chrome, FF) or event to IE11 without the iframe a JSON file is received.

Demo for getting an image is here: http://jsfiddle.net/a0bqtoov/

Steps: press the "Get image back"

I have tried with lowered Internet Options > Security options as well as with the default option, but no luck.

The only add-on I have are Java Plug-In SSV Helper and Java Plugin-In 2 SSV Helper, but both are disabled.

Could this be caused by some browser / OS options?

Best Regards,

Kacper

I changed the action value in the form through developer tools and results were the same, but I will update the demo with changed https to http, so be sure.

Here it is: http://54.159.127.87/chart-section/sample_2/sample.html

No difference for me.

Thanks.  A puzzle is that Fiddler is still having a problem.  Different symptom but still a lack of transparency when I try to trace with it.  At least the Edge case can be traced but it is still not a problem.

BTW have you seen this thread in TechNet?  It seems somewhat related to yours, so maybe you can collaborate with each other

Also, from it I learned something new about JSFiddle that I may have missed from your first sample.  E.g. the download can be initiated from the "context menu button".  Did yours have that too?  Heh.  You were using HTTPS in there too.

It's the same case. Here's the source (kind of): https://github.com/highcharts/highcharts/issues/7824

I just simplified the demo to eliminate Highcharts, and later to eliminate JSFiddle.

I have pending Windows update that requires computer restart, so I'll get back to this on Monday - maybe something will change.

Thank you for your help so far.

I may have found something.  If I delete the (possibly unknown?)  allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox  and use the bottom button I get the prompt.  How can we get some diagnostics from this stuff?

This is weird.  I thought your sample was working in Edge?
