Question

Q: captcha doesnot work on Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge. This thread is locked from future replies

Captcha and similar account verification processes not working in Windows 10 Microsoft Edge browser AND in Internet Explorer with or without add-ons disabled as suggested in a 2011 post.

This is a MAJOR problem, as accounts cannot be verified at all.  Why is this happening, and what is the fix?

Original title: Captcha code in Windows 10, MS Edge & IE

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

I understand that the captcha code dose not display in Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge. We will assist you to resolve the issue.

To assist you better, I would like to know whether you had received any error message or is the issue specific to certain website and installed any third party security application.

As an initial troubleshooting step, I suggest you to try the steps given below on how to add a website to Compatibility List and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

a. Open Internet Explorer.

b. Click on Alt key in keyboard and click on Tools.

c. Click on compatibility view settings.

d. In the Add this website box type the website address that you want to add.

e. Click on Ok.

If the issue persists, try the same in InPrivate mode while accessing the account.

InPrivate Browsing prevents Internet Explorer from storing data about your browsing session. This helps prevent anyone else who might be using your computer from seeing where you visited and what you looked at on the web. When you start InPrivate Browsing, Internet Explorer opens a new window. The protection that InPrivate Browsing provides is only in effect during the time that you use that window. You can open as many tabs as you want in that window, and they will all be protected by InPrivate Browsing. However, if you open another browser window, that window will not be protected by InPrivate Browsing. To end your InPrivate Browsing session, close the browser window.

1. Open the Internet Explorer.

2. Press the Ctrl+Shift+P keys.

Hope the information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance. We will be happy to help.

Thank you.

I am afraid I do not remember on which websites I had trouble with the Captcha codes, but it happened on two or three different ones.  I have never successfully used Captcha and similar programs in Windows 10.  I will try the suggestions from 10 March the next time I have a problem, but currently the issue remains unresolved.

Hi,

Captcha is an Flash ActiveX control in MSIE web browsers (both IE and Edge)...(flash is not just for videos, but also web games and other things that you can't do with a vanilla web page)...

Possibly you have ActiveX filtering turned on in IE11

see

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/internet-explorer/use-activex-filtering

Edge by default has Flash disabled.... ensure you have turned in on in Edge..

Charms (...)>Use Adobe Flash Player

If possible always include the full address of any websites you are having problems with, with your questions.. That way we are able to visit the exact same pages as you to make some test.

Regards.

The FMCSA website has numerous locations in which a captcha must be entered to verify information. Many customers using Windows 10 cannot view these. How can customers alter their view settings in Windows 10 so they can see the critical capcha challenges?
