Cannot add *.amazonaws.com to Trusted Sites in Internet Explorer 11.

I'm not sure if it is an Easter egg or some kind of joke, but for whatever reason I am unable to add *.amazonaws.com as a Trusted Site in Internet Explorer 11.

I have no trouble adding other wildcard prefixed domains, for example *.amazon.com or others, so it is not a user input issue.

I have tried all these combinations with the same error result:

  • *.amazonaws.com
  • *.amazonaws.*
  • *://*.amazonaws.com
  • http://*.amazonaws.com
  • etc.

Internet Explorer 11

Version: 11.504.17763.0

Update Versions: 11.0.126 (KB4505050)

I did a bit of Googling and found that there was some kind of ancient malware called "Amazonaws Redirect Virus" --- I wonder if this is related or not? Maybe this specific domain block was grandfathered into IE11?
