No sound from YOUTUBE

Original Title: Sound Audio microphone record recording

Have just purchased a new PC with Windows 8.  Can receive most audio sources, including DVDs, CDs, ALOT radio stations and local live radio.  But no sound from YOUTUBE.  I like big band music and love to watch the musicians.   However, would much prefer to hear them.  Is it me or YOUTUBE or just another peculiarity of Windows 8? What do I need to do.  In simple terms, please.

Answer

Hi Len,

1.    Is the issue confined only while watching YouTube videos?

2.    Are you using Internet Explorer 10 in Desktop view or User Interface view?

This issue might occur due to Internet Explorer audio settings.

Do you have another web-browser installed on your computer other than Internet Explorer?

If Yes, I would recommend you to try accessing YouTube from another web-browser and check if it helps.

This will help us to find out if the issue is with Internet Explorer or YouTube Audio is corrupted.

If the issue still persists, let’s try the following methods and check if it helps.

Method 1:

If you are using Internet Explorer, make sure the below settings are correct.

a) Open Internet Explorer from Desktop View.

b) Go to Tools and Internet Options.

c) Switch to the Advanced Tab.

d) Scroll down to the Multimedia sub-heading.

e) Make sure the box next to Play sounds in web pages is checked. Click Ok.

Restart Internet Explorer. Test to see if you can hear sound online.

Method 2:

a. Open Internet Explorer.

b. Click on the Volume icon in the Windows system tray (to the right bottom corner of the desktop), and then click on the link labeled "Mixer".

c. A panel will open showing the individual Volume levels of all running applications that play sounds (you may need to scroll to the right to see all of them).

d. Ensure the volume level belonging to Internet Explorer is not set to mute.
