"Access denied" error won't allow to add web page to favorites using IE 10.

Original title: IE 10  won't allow me to add to favorites

I have Windows 7 Home   and IE 10. When I want to save a web page to favorites - click on "add to favorites"  - I get a message "access denied"  -  this has only happened since upgrading to IE 10  -  can you assist please.  thanks  Isaac

Method 1:

Try assigning permissions to the favorite folder and then check this issue. Follow the steps to apply permissions for a user:

a. Navigate to the location “C:\users\ and open your user account folder.

b. Right-click on the “Favorites” folder and then click “Properties”.

c. Click the “Security” tab, and then click “Edit”.

d. To set permissions for a user that is not listed under Group or user names, click “Add”, type the name of the user or group, click “OK”, select the permissions.

e. Edit the permission to Full Control for ‘Everyone’.

f. Click OK for changes to take effect and click ok final ok to exit from Properties window.

Method 2:

If the issue persists, you may follow these steps to remove Read only attribute using command prompt.

a. Open command prompt by clicking Start and typing command prompt in the start search box.

b. Right click on command prompt and select Run as Administrator.

c. Type cd\ and hit Enter.

d. Type cd users\ the user name in which you have logged in\ and hit Enter.

e. Type ATTRIB favorites –r and hit Enter.

f. Now Read only attribute for Favorites folder should be removed.

g. Close the Command Prompt, then Open Internet Explorer and check if you are able to add Favorites.
