Message that website is not responding due to a long running script

when I go to a website and try to scroll down, it always get a message saying website in not responding due to a long running script. only happened from few days back. is there any one who can give some ideas.? I use internet explorer in windows 8 machine

If this is happening only on one website, there is probably some poorly implemented JavaScript on the page and IE is doing you a favor by providing the "Stop script" option.

If it's happening on several sites, try the procedure posted by Smittychat at

You could also turn off the script warnings:

From IE> Tools> Internet Options> Advanced...
Check "Disable script debugging" and uncheck "Display a notification about
every script error."

If you're seeing the message on all or nearly all sites, a browser add-on might be causing it.

Start Internet Explorer without add-ons from Start> Programs> Accessories> System tools> Internet Explorer (no add-ons)

from Start> Run (or Windows logo key + r) type in iexplore.exe -extoff

(iexplore.exe<space>-extoff) then hit Enter.


If the problem goes away, an add-on is causing it.
