Enable Cookies

A couple of days ago, Edge no longer connects with sites that use cookies and I get a message to enable the use of cookies.  I have gone to Edge Advanced Settings and found "Do not Block Cookies" enabled.  I disabled it and re-enabled it, rebooted, but still cannot access sites.  I went to settings and tried to repair Edge. Again, no success.  Any suggestions?

HI PixelGuy,

This issue may have been caused by the Privacy settings set up to your Microsoft Edge browser.

Modifying the Privacy settings of your browser can help. To do this, refer to the steps below:

Press Windows key + R on your keyboard.
On the run command box, type inetcpl.cpl, and then hit Enter.
Choose Privacy tab.
Click Advanced.

Under Advanced Privacy Settings window, select Accept under First-party and Third-party Cookies.

Place a check mark under Always allow session cookies.
Click OK.
Go back to Privacy tab, select Sites. type in the specific website that you are trying to visit, and then click the Allow button.

Click OK.
Click Apply and then hit OK.

Hello,

Suggest you to re-register Microsoft Edge. Perform these steps:

1. Search for Windows PowerShell using Cortana or Windows Search.

2. From results, right click on Windows PowerShell and select Run as administrator.

3. Then type following command and press Enter key:

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers -Name Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml” -Verbose}

Let the command complete.

4. Close Windows PowerShell and check Edge, it should work fine now.

Let us know if this helps!

Thanks Jordon,

Under Advanced Privacy Settings window, accept was already selected under First-party and Third-party Cookies as was a check mark under always allow session cookies.

I clicked ok and went back to the Privacy tab and selected Sites.  I entered the specific website of one of the sites I am having trouble with and clicked OK, then apply and then OK.

I then went to the site and it still will not let me in.  Now it just shows it is trying to connect, but never does.  I can open FireFox or Chrome and both connect right away.  My preference is Edge, but if I cannot get it to work, I have no other choice except to switch to another browser...sigh.

Hi Jordan and Kapil,

I have tried to re-register Microsoft Edge per Kapril's instructions and the process was successful, but still cannot access the site.

The site I am trying to access is a Credit Card Pay Bill site that I have been using for years.,

I am able to access it from Firefox and Chrome.

Only Edge has an issue.

Thanks.

in the start menu, type 'internet options' and launch this

on the last tab select advanced

hit reset advanced settings and also reset, ensure the checkbox is ticked and allow this to reset the internet options

If you have trouble doing this, you may need to launch Task manager and close all instances of Edge and Internet Explorer

I had noticed the option to reset Edge from Settings but saw the warning that all my passwords would be deleted.  Is that correct?  I really hate to reset everything.  Is there a way to keep from losing all my personal settings?

Hi Jordon,

I reset and didn't tick delete personal settings, but I still cannot access the site with Edge.

I decided to try Internet Explorer...and I was able to access the site without any problems and use my saved ID and password.  Currently I can access with IE, Firefox, and Chrome.

But, Edge is still broken.
