Cannot Open Downloaded Files From Edge

I am currently running the Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview 17074.1000 on my Dell laptop. I did see there is a new Insider Build as of today (January 24th), but haven't had a chance to install it yet, so do not know if this issue is resolved.

The issue I have been having is that when I download a file using Edge from Canvas (learning management system in place at many schools) I cannot open them, such as when I attempt to download a .7z archive, when I try to extract it, it says "Not an archive":

Or, if I download a Word document, it will bring this up:

However, if I try downloading files with Google Chrome, the .7z archives extract just fine, and the Word documents open perfectly.

Is this just a problem with Canvas possibly, or Edge?

Hi,

Files with the extension .7z are compressed archive files created with 7-Zip open source software. This file format is supported in Microsoft Edge. For us to identify if the outdated software causing the issue, follow the steps below:

Download and install the latest Insider Build 17083 (January 24, 2018)

Select the Startbutton, then select Settings> Update & security> Windows Update. Select Check for updates. If updates are available, install them.

If the issue still persist don't hesitate to come back to us.

I updated to 17083 yesterday, still having the same problems downloading files from Canvas on Edge. It just appears to be Canvas, because if I download .docx files from other websites with Edge, I can open them just fine.
