Changing Language in Edge

I want to change my browser language in MS Edge like I have done in IE and every other browser I've ever used.  Every post I have found shows me how to change my language at the system level, I don't want to change my computer to a new language.  I need to change the language for one browser on my computer to view an app to check for translations.  This is part of my job and since I don't speak the language I certainly don't want my entire computer switched to a language I can't read.

I have a new computer with Windows 10 and the MS Edge browser.

Hi Heather,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused. I will assist you with this.

Please be informed that there is no option to change the language for Microsoft Edge only, meanwhile you can change the language for the computer and this will effect the change in language for edge also.

Press Windows Key +Space bar to change the language.

Meanwhile I suggest that you provide your suggestions and feedbacks in the dedicated Feedback App. Follow these steps to provide suggestions in Windows Feedback App.

At any time, select Start, and then type Windows Feedback to send us your opinions and suggestions. Windows Feedback is only available if you have Diagnostic and usage data set to Full (Full is the recommended setting).

To change the Diagnostic and usage data setting, go to Start , then select Settings > Privacy > Feedback & diagnostics, and then, under Diagnostic and usage data, select an option.

Hope this information was helpful.

Thank you.

Well using Windows key + Space bar change the keyboard, not the language, unless both notions are linked in Windows10.

It seems that English software engineers don't understand the usability case here for foreign users.

I would like to have the benefit of English langage proofing, since this is not my mother tongue.  Sticking with Windows current language is not useful for me in that case (which is french for me).  I like in my day to day life to have Windows in french but when I write an English comment like this one, I would like to have English language proofing.

Hi,

Changing the Language Preference from the Control Panel and restarted my laptop did not really change the Language for Edge.

Is there any recent update on this action?

Thanks!

Hi Shella,

To answer your questions, you can change it under Settings> Time & language> Region & language> Add a language. Don't forget that you will use it as default. However, if you change the language it will affect all the application in your computer.

Keep us updated.

I agree. I don't like the fact that I have to tie my OS language to my browser language. Which is why using a non-MS browser is helpful.

I'd like to have regional and default as .no in my OS, but I want English in the browser. Shouldn't be hard to justify this usecase imo.

I am still looking for a solution in MS Edge, but using Chrome there is a app called 'Quick Language Switcher' that you can install which allows changing the language in browser without any change to the OS. Very helpful for testing/demonstrating translations, etc...

Hope this helps.

Same thing here. I don't know why it's not possible.

For example, for other apps like Weather, Mail, etc. I'm able to change language without changing computer language, but its not working with Edge.

My solution for other apps was to add the preferred language on top of the list, but display language at the bottom.

The thing is that with MS Edge it doesn't work and is tight to computer settings... What about changing that?

For some reason a site is displayed in German to me. It is English in other browsers and I haven't got German selected anywhere in Windows, regional settings are English UK and have no German keyboard either.
