My map location is wrong by 100miles how do I change it?

In Windows 8 pro retail my Bing map location is at least 90 miles out. How do I change it to where I actually live?

Hi NickBowden,

No need to worry, we are here to help you and guide you in the right direction.

To correct the location in the Maps App, you should ensure the location services are turned on, to do this, follow the steps below:

Step 1: Make sure that Allow apps to use my location is turned on.

a.       Press the Windows + C to activate the charms menu and click on Search.

b.      Click on Settings and type location, select Allow apps to use my location.

c.       Turn on the option to Allow apps to use my location.

Step 2: Change the regional settings and check if the issue persists.

a.       Press the Windows + C to activate the charms menu and click on Search.

b.      Click on Settings and type location and select Change location.

c.       Change the ‘Home location’.

Also, Selecting the My location marker represented by the Orange/White diamond will allow the user to move the location marker to be more accurate. The My location marker changes to a circle surrounding the diamond to show that it has been adjusted.

That's what mine is doing and it won't let me move or change it.

Mine has auto-set to London when I live in Northern Ireland. So it has even got the wrong country!

Wish we could manually set it like we can on Google Maps.

Same problem here.  The location in IE 10 for weather under Win8 is in another town altogether.  sigh...

Epic fail.  These instructions do nothing to correct the issue or root cause.  Thanks for absolutely nothing Nick.  Please go tell the devs to make a patch that allows us, the end user, to enter a zip/postal code location manually as an option.

Yeah, I have to agree this is pretty stupid of them. Please fix this so my father stops calling me asking why his weather is "broken"!

If you want to change your Maps location just drag the my location icon on the map to where you want it to be, then right click and press 'move'.  This resets your location even across reboots.  Also the weather will be wrong.  Go to the weather app, right click on the app and add a new location.  Then set this new location as a favourite.

I tried that and it just moves the map, not the location pointer, (windows 8 PC with mouse). It does not seem to matter if its orange/black or not.

The weather problem can be solved but you cannot seem to remove the one that it puts in place from the wrong location.
