OS maps option in Bing Maps

Has Micrsoft dropped OS Maps and other map option from the drop down menu?

These have suddenly disappeared, which would be very disappointing as there is not enough detail on the standard map.

Bing Maps was my go to place for maps but if this is the case, then it reduces Bing maps from being very useful to a dummed down thing that is no better than Google.

On top of this, no notification or explanation of any kind. I have become accustomed to this behavior from Google, which is why I switched from Google to Bing for searches. I suppose this is just another example of the arrogance of an oversized outfit that doesn't care about its users?

Hi John,

I have reached out to the Bing Maps team to check on the UK OS Map.  I haven't heard of anything changing so it should still be available as far as I am aware.

UPDATE: The team has double checked and the OS map is working as expected.  Try zooming in on say London and then choosing the OS option. Potentially you are not zoomed in to exclusively UK enough to get that in the drop down?

NOTE: If you are not in the UK this option will not appear. Are you located within that market code en-gb or culture code gb?

Sincerely,

IoTGirl

I was another who had asked this question.  It is indeed working now as normal, but there was definitely a period of a few days in December when it was non-functional.  Glad to see this enormously useful (and almost unknown) feature is back again.

Thanks

J

I have just checked again and there is still no map type option at all. No satellite map, birds eye or, most importantly no OS map option.

So, the question still stands. What has happened to OS Maps?

Hi JayOh

Just to confirm that I am getting the full menu for Bing Maps on both Edge and Internet Explorer.  Here are the screenshots for the road and OS options, with menu visible.  Which browser are you using? Hope this helps, J

Hi JayOh

I have just tried Bing Maps with Firefox, and I can get the OS pages up just fine, so it's not a browser-specific issue.

What device/operating system are you trying to view the OS maps on?

Very strange.

I am using an HP Laptop 17-ak0xx with Win 10 64bit

I have been racking the brain cell for any changes since November but nothing comes to mind, everything is as normal no other problems.

Thank you J

I don't know if this screen shot provides any clue as to what has happened to the drop down menu for map options but ......

If I right click the map I get these options with View Streetside and View Bird's Eye grayed out. These options used to be, or are on some computers, available from the missing drop down menu.

Doing s search about this problem, it seems quite erratic. Some have no problems, while others are not seeing the map options.

Further more, the problem does not seem to be browser dependant. From what I see on various forums, any of the browsers are showing the map options for some but not for others.

This erratic behaviour also seems to have been around, on and off, for quite a long time.

One would have thought that an outfit with the kind of recourses available would be able to sort out this kind of problem and its associated inconsistency?
