Image descriptions on Bing Wallpaper

How do I get the information, location of photos, and descriptions of the Bing images that come as daily wallpaper?  On previous computers, these showed automatically with the Bing Microsoft images.  Now I see only the image and, though I continue to enjoy seeing the images, I'd like to know what I'm seeing.
Hello AnitaBernhardt,

I'm John an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. I'll be happy to assist you today.

Are you referring to the Bing Wallpaper application for Windows 10?

If so, please try the method below.

Right-click on the Bing icon in the System Tray (Up arrow) on the taskbar
You will see a short description or details of what the photo is. for example, it will tell you what type of animal it is or where a landscape was photographed.

You can check the link below for more details.

Kindly let me know if this helps or if you have any further concerns.

Sincerely,

I have tried this and other remedies. It has not worked. I have even uninstalled and re-installed the Bing Wallpaper app. Anything else I can do before giving up the app?

Hi Anita,

When you click on the Bing icon in your taskbar, do you get the pop-up menu as indicated in the picture below; or are you missing the Bing icon altogether?

Also, are you running Windows 10?

Yes, I use Windows 10. When I click the Bing icon in the taskbar, either left or right click, I get no pull down menu - only the ability to pin or unpin it to the taskbar.

Hi Anita,

It sounds like you have installed the Bing Desktop app instead of the Bing Wallpaper app.

The Bing Desktop app appears on your taskbar, as you have mentioned. It will not have the pop-up menu. To see information about the image, you need to go into the Settings options (the gear icon that appears next to the Bing search bar on your desktop) and select the option to Make daily homepage image your background. There should be a small "i" icon next to the settings gear that will display the image information. If not, then the quickest way to get the information about the image is to type bing.com into the search bar. This will open up the image of the day where you can get the information.

The Bing Wallpaper app appears in your your system tray, and will have the pop-up menu when you click on it. It does not have the desktop search abilities that the Bing Desktop app has, but these are built into the Wndows 10 search now. To install the Bing Wallpaper app, go here:

Explore the world one photo at a time | Bing Wallpaper (microsoft.com)

Hope this helps.

I found the information here very helpful! It is awesome to be able to find the descriptions for the Bing Wallpapers I've always wondered about.

This might not be a correct thread for this question. It is in reference to the 'Best of Bing' theme images, the Bing Windows Themes that can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store. Where on earth can you find descriptions for those pictures? I have gone to extremes to find where/what this or that image is, to no avail most of the time. Why are the descriptions so hidden?

Thanks in advance for any light shed!

That's not the Bing icon JohnDeV referred to. On the far right side of the Taskbar is

the Notification Area, used to be called the Systray. It's where the time is displayed.

Click the up arrow to display Bing and other hidden icons.
