Cannot save "search results languages" in the Bing settings

Hi all,

I've been trying to save Japanese as one of my search results languages as usually Chinese websites come up first when I search in Japanese.

If I go to the Bing settings, choose Japanese as one of the search results languages and hit "save", it automatically refreshes so it looks like the setting is saved. However, I don't get results in Japanese, and when I go back to the settings Japanese has been unselected.

This seems to only happen with Japanese, because if I try the same thing with any other language, say German for example, if I save it as search results language and come back to the settings it's still there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hello imrkaey,

Good to see you in Microsoft Community.

Firstly, could you let me know the specific system version? Please check it (you can display it by pressing the Win key + R key, and typing "winver", then press Enter), and only send the relevant information without PII in the next reply.

What browser were you logging in to? Have you tried logging in in in the Microsoft Edge browser and see if there's a similar situation?

Generally, you can access Bing Search preferences through the Bing homepage: open Bing.com, click Settings and quick links and select "More" to set it up, and the setting will be saved in your account.

And you can adjust the region settings.

Maybe you can change the region to Japan in Windows Settings.

  • Windows 11

Meanwhile, the search results are related to your network environment itself, you can use a different network (such as a mobile phone sharing hotspot, please pay attention to the use of tariffs), and then check whether the function is normal.

If anything is unclear, please do not hesitate to let me know.
