Bing on Silk/Kindle Fire HD8

Hello.

I see people have posted similar problems, but have yet to see a fix for my device. I'm using Bing on Silk browser on a Kindle Fire HD8.

Couple of problems:

I type something in the search box, and when suggestions come up, clicking on them does nothing. So I type the whole thing out, but if I want to change the search, it freezes and I have to shut it down and start again.

I know, if that's the limit of problems in my life, then jeeeeez.

But any ideas?

Silk browser uses a split architecture in which some of the processing is done on the Amazon server so as to nurture the web page loading performance.

I'd advise using another browser on the unit: Google, Dolphin, Opera, Firefox or Maxthon.

Hi

Thanks for the response. Yes, changing browser is a solution, but it doesn't resolve the actual problem. I do already have Firefox. I will check the others out, but I had a problem with Dolphin before.

So there's no actual fix? I've had the device for over a year and this has only recently started - Silk worked perfectly up until then.

1. Hold the power button in for 30 seconds then release it. Press the power button to turn your Kindle back on.

2. Clear browser cache

    1. Go to the Home screen
    2. Swipe down from the top of the screen.
    3. Tap More
    4. Tap Applications Under Amazon Applications,
    5. Tap Silk Browser.
    6. Scroll down some and you’ll find ‘Clear Cache’; tap that. You might also want to tap ‘Clear Cookies Data’ while you are there

Next, Clear Cache/cookies created by apps

  1. Swipe down from the top of your screen,
  2. tap More,
  3. Installed applications,
  4. then tap each app you wish to clear.
  5. There is a button that says Clear Cache.

3. Reset the browser if still experiencing issues

  1. Open your setting menu in your kindle.
  2. Click the device option and choose the buttons of reset to the company default.
  3. Confirm reset kindle
  4. Wait for kindle to start again. 

4.  Restore data you've backed up if applicable

I gave the reply 4 stars because it was a useful suggestion - in that it seemed to solve it but literally within minutes the problem returned, only now carrying out the procedure doesn't work even for those few minutes, maybe seconds.

The next step is to Contact Amazon Support regarding the issue with the Kindle product.

When I get around to it, I'll post an update here to help others with the same issue.

Before I do that though, I'll go through the docs and apps on the device and have a good clean and delete session and try the above suggestion again.
