When I try to get directions from one town to another in Bing maps, I get the message "We can't find directions between one or more waypoints. Check your waypoints and route options and try again". Why won't this work - it has previously

This is likely due to security software blocking the call to the VirtualEarth endpoint that does the route calculation. Please add the following endpoints to your firewall:
Then the calls should go through again.

If you are doing this on the Bing Maps website, you can click feedback and it will capture the settings in your browser. Can you provide me the end points here? For example, if you pick a spot in the middle of a park and try to route there by Car, you will get this error. Try doing a walking route and see if you get a result?

I was trying to get directions between Ferndown, Dorset and Brockenhurst, Hampshire (both in the UK). It makes no difference whether I just use the town names or if I put in postcodes for specific places. I still get the same message.

Hi KJ505,
I can confirm that Bing Maps does find a route both ways so let me ask you to follow these steps:
1. Go to bing.com/maps and choose Directions
2. Paste one of the two locations and choose the corresponding one from the suggested list
3. Paste the second location and again choose from the suggested list
I get Brockenhurst, England, United Kingdom & Ferndown, England, United Kingdom
4. You should get a site like https://www.bing.com/maps?&cp=50.834348~-1.788279&lvl=12&osid=01898d3a-6750-4905-b627-f97fc302ee71&v=2&sV=2&form=S00027
If this does not produce a route for you, likely you have some software that is blocking the directions script from running.
Sincerely,
IoTGirl

Unfortunately that doesn't work. Have you any idea what kind of software might be blocking this?

Do you have something like NordVPN or other security software that could be blocking web pages from using subsites?

I do have security software (Bitdefender) but I have added bing.com to it's safe sites.
