Bing is trying to index http instead of https URL

I submitted https://www.lemurweb.com to the Bing submit your site page (http://www.bing.com/toolbox/submit-site-url). However, I see the Bingbot trying to spider http://www.lemurweb.com. This is redirected to https://www.lemureweb.com, but Bing does not follow up on the redirect. Our site will never be available via http instead of or in addition to https. Is Bing able to index https?
This is a great question. Have you found an answer yet?

Why does Bing not follow up on the redirect ?

Your site sends a 302 redirect, which is wrong. Bing does not follow 302 (temporary redirect), it should be a 301 (moved permanently).

Why is Bing trying to index HTTP instead of HTTPS ?

That is a very good question... We do have a similar problem : we give Bing a sitemap index containing the list of the complete URLs of all our sitemaps (sitemap URLs look like https://xyz.com/sitemap_part_xxx.xml.gz) but Bing is rewriting the URLs to HTTP and he tries to access http://xyz.com/sitemap_part_xxx.xml.gz ! Of course we configured redirect from HTTP to HTTPS with 301 redirect, but Bing keeps failing like a boss. I think Bing does not follow any kind of redirect for sitemaps.. Any idea why does Bing ignore https in the URLs ?

Fabien.
