Bing Image Inspiration

Hi,

I have a Windows 11 computer that I bought from a friend. I'd like to turn off the "inspiration" function when I go into "images", or at least default to the feed that shows "images" marked as "Trending". I find those photos to be far more useful and interesting as they cover topics that are diverse and timely and actually can be an inspiration for something I'd like to explore further. I don't know how the "inspiration" function was put on the computer, but I don't like it. I would much rather have no photos than pictures that Microsoft/Bing or the person I bought the computer from think I want to see.

Hi

Welcome to the Microsoft community.

You could try to turn off the home page display picture in the setting in the upper right corner of Bing image to see if it can be solved.

Looking forward to your further news.

You are welcome to reply to this topic at any time, and sincerely thank you for your support of Microsoft products and services.

Best regards

Hi and thanks for your reply. I tried what you suggested with no luck. I think the whole "inspiration" aspect of the pictures shown when you click "image" in Bing is a new thing that Microsoft has added. I used to get the "trending" picture feed when I went into the "image" option. Then one day about two weeks ago this new "inspiration" thing just showed up. I made no changes to the computer myself, so perhaps it was added as part of an update. If so, I'd appreciate knowing when/which update it was so I can undo it. If not, I'd like to request that Microsoft/Bing add an option to get rid of "inspiration"...

You said the inspiration function, could you provide us with a screenshot (pay attention to protect personal privacy information). So that we could confirm whether it is related to the update.

This is the page in question. I was also quite perturbed when I opened Bing images the other day and found this garbage. I had to go to the regular Bing page to see the daily image. That is all I want to see on the images page. We should be able to get our daily image back. But I would rather see a blank page than Inspiration if that was an option.

Y'know Erich, I got tired of trying to get an answer to what should be a simple question. They could just put in an option for whether or not you want "inspiration" to hijack your image feed or if you'd rather get today's image or trending images or nothing at all. But not only will they not do that, they won't even give you anything close to a reasonable response to WHY you can't get rid of this intrusive application. So I just stopped using Bing and now use Duckduckgo, which doesn't track your searches or "suggest" what they "feel" you want to see when you go into your Image search.

The problem is that the Inspiration feed replaced the old layout and there seems to be no way to get rid of it. On the search homepage you can choose whether you want to see the daily image or a blank page, but the images page has been replaced by the current wall of images. There don't seem to be options to turn off Inspiration or just show a blank page or daily image like before. What we are asking is to be given options like "show/hide Inspiration feed" or "show a blank page for image search." I just don't want to be forced to see a massive wall of images when I open the image search page. Even when I signed in there didn't seem to be an option to change or customize it.

Precisely! I spent hours trying to find a way to turn it off, sent emails to Microsoft, did online searches and no way I could find. Any answers from Microsoft were almost unintelligible double-talk. I just gave up Bing and went to Duckduckgo. A very simple Google-type input screen and they don't track you. So win-win...
