On Reach, nothing really stands out to me .

Completely Agree with you there Bob.  I enjoy playing the game but it really is a joke compared to the style of gameplay and competitiveness of H2 or H3.

I think you guys just have fonder memories of the previous games.  H2 was a ground breaker.  Nuff said about that but H3 was a poor comparison to it and suffered the same criticism that Reach gets.  What it really comes down to is having to change your play style to fit the newest version of the game.  For some that meant taking a huge step backwards in their learning curve.  These players tend to find themselves either not playing at the same level that they'd enjoyed before or simply struggling in a game they feel they should be much more familiar with.  Other still, make the change and find their skills to be greatly enhanced because the new system fits their playstyle better.  Both scenarios can have an adverse affect.  One the player feels out classed while the other might feel that there's no real challenge.  In both cases, you're talking about a player that doesn't like the changes made to the game but at the same time... would be even more out of sorts were the game released with no changes what so ever.

Okay, so I know I'm not the most elite soldier in the room, but this was brag worthy to me. 

Alpha Zombies on Countdown. I do my usual routine: wander around with a group and find a defensive location, then wander around that looking for zombies I can get the drop on. I was getting my usual results. 1st round I fell off the edge cause I stepped up onto a box by accident. -1. Next round I got killed by a zombie, but didn't get any kills on either side. 3rd round I went about my business trying to at least get 1 kill so I can be 0. Close to the end of the round (the start of the clip I saved) I get a solid kill on a regular zombie, then an alpha zombie. I come around a corner and find another zombie just hanging out. Assassination time. Right about the time I finish the assassination animation I hear "last man standing!" Luckily my shotgun was already fully loaded and I saw 3 guys spawn right outside of the room I was in. They start rushing me and I go down shotgun blazing.  I managed to take 9 of them out after the assassination- including 2 with one shot. The announcer was still reading off my medals when the final results were posted. I was quite pleased with myself.

My very first game of multiple team was an epic win (or luck). It was headhunter and I started out the game by being killed by the rockets. Upon my respawn snuck behind all he carnage to find a team hiding with most of the skulls in a small space.  I tossed a couple grenades and Went in to finish the job. I picked up all the skulls and went and scored them for a skullamanjaro FTW! It was an epic moment and was one of the shortest games I've ever played.
