Black ops 2 won't load

Have you got another xbox, or a friends xbox to test the disc on?

Can you tell us what Xbox 360 you have, is it the old style console or the Slim?  How old is your console?  Do you have any new games that work other than Black Ops2?

The issue isn't with the discs, they are fine.  The problem is likely down to certain number of Xbox DVD drives that are not 100% compatible with firmware for the new disc format.  Just clarify that, I believe the issue is with your console's DVD drive, not the game itself.

It is an older model I got in 09 and have had absolutely no problems with it till now. All my other games immediately load up including my newer ones such as NHL 13, forza 4, and boderlands 2. I have heard about the older drives not being totally compatible with the older models. My one question regarding that is if they weren't 100% compatible why would they go and release it anyway knowing this? I guess it's all about hitting launch dates and profit margins. I wish I didn't feel like I, the customer, was getting screwed. I heard they are gonna fix it maybe with a patch. That's all fine and dandy but I bought this game to play it now, not wait for some freakin update.

I meant to say the older drives are not compatible with newer games

Hi there! I see that you have cleaned the game disc, but what about your laser? Have you tried to clean that? It may be your source of the problem.

the older systems do play it i have 2 of them and black ops 2 plays just fine. one is an old arcade and the other is the MW 2 collectors edition xbox360

It may be the game disk, my friend works on computers and so checking a disk is childs play for him.

So that said, He bought black ops 2 the opening release, didnt work, so he put the disk into his drive and disk said unrecognizable disk, so he traded it for another copy again same problem, this went on for a few hours so finally after his literally 14th disk it worked, he put thedisk into his drive to check it and it said Xbox 360 game Black ops 2 along with devepor info, movie sequences, pics ect..

so in general, my friend beleaves that they were in such a rush to get this game massed produced that they didnt monitor the machinery properly when the games were in production so many bad copies were released. my friend at a gamestop said that they had so many returns and trade ins that it was rediculus.

so try trading it in again or have gamestop check it for you, when i buy games from time to time ill ask my friend to please check it, and they will.

I have a newer slim model that has the same problem as well. my copy of black ops 2 has no scratches but  is unreadable. I rented a different copy as well but the problem still exist.

So the problem obviously lies with the Xbox console. Many people I know have been having the same issue. They did resolve it. There were a couple of steps they tried and one that worked for sure (may sound odd) was trying a new hard drive. Sometimes it is the DVD driver, or something so small that is over looked and it is really frustrating. One thing I always recommend as well, if possible try to download the game to your hard drive.

Im having the same problem. Bo2 wont start up. started this right after trying to put in a new hard drive. hard drive was installed and xbox error e 86.  after pulling the drive now the game wont start.
