Windows Live Messenger on Xbox Live

I'm having a little bit of trouble trying to figure out what your actual problem is. From what I read you're trying to sign into the MSN feature on your xbox 360 and you're running into trouble somewhere (i.e. an on-screen status message may be shown and you're unable to sign in...?). If you could provide the full and exact error message that is shown, or explain the problem a little better someone here may be able to help you. :)

Thank you for clarifying what you meant. Unfortunately the MSN feature does not ask if you wish to keep your xbox LIVE gamerprofile status 'up-to-date', however I believe it happens automatically and those on the PC version of MSN will see your current status and the game you're playing.

If you're on Facebook you could try the application on the xbox 360, as this specifically asks you when you sign in if you wish to have your xbox 360 profile status sent to your Facebook home page.

not updating the latest version of MSN,Updating previous versions.Do you have anything done to it?

I think this may have something to do with signing in at multiple locations or using 3rd party clients such as Trillian.

I am trying to work out why my status does not update however my friends do like the examples above. I am using Trillian on my work PC, Beejive on iPad/iPhone and live messenger 8 on OSX. I have noticed that if i sign in first on a non xbox client my display name and status is set to what my client is, then if i sign in the xbox my status does not update to "now playing...".

If I then sign out of all locations and sign in only on my xbox, my display name shows as my sign in email address and my status continues to not update to now playing. Very weird.

This is an old problem now. It started happening maybe a year and a half ago.

Prior to that, your MSN Status would automatically  change dependant on what you were doing while signed in on your XBOX.

Examples: (name/email): Xbox LIVE Dashboard or (name/email): Xbox LIVE, Forza 3

At some point Microsoft broke it somehow, and have never bothered to fix it.
