A friends of mine 360 was stolen by his roomate. My friend has proof of ownership. He bought it used. Need to find a way to get the serial #. He has a Gold membership. I was wondering if Microsoft would have a unique ID for it (serial/ mac address). If so can they tell aprox. where it is at.

they can however you need to go thru the legal system
everything from a court order and a warrant as legally required before they hand out that info

basically the investigating police officer has to call support and request the info with a court order or a warrant

Most retail shops that sell the Xbox 360 console print the serial number on the receipt as they have to scan that after or before they scan the product barcode. Have your friend check his receipt. That would be all the proof he needs and he wouldn't have to wait.
