microsoft, bad decisions

I think that ms is making bad decisions on xbox live when it comes to steam. it wouldnt hurt to put steamworks into the games they make. makes no sense. Its not like they are bringing there store to the market.... if anything, doing that would bring more customers. some have even said they are going to be playing ps3 more because of microsofts business arogants. ms said they wanted to expand there partenerships tenfold. well, here is a company who is willing to do this very easily. there isn't much risk to do this. its just giveing more updates to the xbox and some cross-platform gameplay with pc.

"Its not like they are bringing there store to the market.... if anything, doing that would bring more customers." couldnt find an edit button, but i meant bringing steamworks would bring more customers.

Steamworks would also bring in more risk to xbox live. I would rather have a secure network than have steamworks potentially compromise that.

I have no interest with cross platform play with PC. I would love to be able to do it with PS3 though.

I'm not really sure I would want that either. Yeah both Terms of Service are "similar" but there is no Enforcement of Cheating on either PC or PSN. That would be a bad "double standard" in that "other" Platform Players are not held in the same regards as XBL Players.

Valve is actually very strict on cheating as long as you're playing on a VAC secured (Valve Anti-Cheat system) server. Being caught means your account is deleted. Since your games are only on the account, you loose your steam library. I'm assuming they will enforce similar rules on the PS3 as well for online play against PC players. I've never experienced cheating on any VAC server.

I'm not sure how balancing play with PC users will go, but Valve is amazing at gameplay so I'm not worried. Their biggest issue will be ensuring that custom maps are playable on the PS3, something that PC mod teams won't be worried about. There will probably be servers that PS3 players can't access due to custom maps.

What bothers me about all this is Microsoft not seeing the benefits of allowing a service like Steam on the xbox. Steam isn't quite as closed as XBL, but it's not an open network either. Keeping XBL secure isn't the driving factor. It's allowing Valve to push updates at will, both patches and content, without needing to go through the verification process or charging for additional content. As much as I love my xbox, this is really making me want to get CS:GO on PS3 or PC instead, and I'm probably not the only one either.

I want Microsoft to make a mouse for my Xbox. I want the PS3 to die off..too many years of Sony. PC's are far too unsafe and unstable to be part of console gaming.

MS really is going to fall behind if they dont get just a little more open about this.

Ms is way too regionalist for my likes, Live is ALL ABOUT living in North America and Europe. It really doesn´t work too well in other countries such as Brazil for example. Having Steamworks on Live would be awesome for the rest of the world that doesn´t have all the add ons, all the games on demand, all the Arcade games available to download due to our region. Or Ms starts changing things right now. Or it WILL going to fail the rest of the world and will not going to sell Xbox 720 very well, because me and my friends are very, very tired of Not be allowed to download everything that we want on Live just because we don´t live in United States...We are customers after all, just because we don´t live in United States doesn´t mean we don´t have money to spend....In fact, games here are much more pricey than it is over there when you spend US$50,00 on a game (and complain that it´s expensive) we spend U$120,00 on the very same game...Of course not everyone of us has this kind of money to spend on hobbies with frequency but we all would LOVE to download cheaper games on demand like the Ps3 Owners do over here because there is NO region issues...Or MS change it´s policy or it´s PS4 FTW...

Steamworks on xbox is not about selling games, it's about allowing cross play between consoles and PC and allowing Valve to push updates and more content into their games w/o clearing everything with Microsoft first.
