I can't connect to Xbox Live.

I've been using an ethernet cable connected to my  laptop to connect to Xbox Live for over a year. All of the sudden it stopped working yesterday. I haven't changed anything. I went through everything to make sure my laptop was still sharing the internet and it was.I've tried connecting using both my laptops, which both worked before yesterday. The laptops I've been using are an old HP Dv7 - 1240us and a new HP Elitebook 8730w. I've been getting the message, "Can't obtain IP Address from your router or modem." My xbox stops connecting before "Network." Verison is my ISP.

I went through all the troubleshooting on my xbox and on xbox.com. Nothing has worked. Someone please help me. Thank you for any attempts.

Have you tried bridging the connection instead of sharing it?

Hey mate, where's the other thread you posted in? If you link me, I'll take a look at it. And to be sure, have you tried clearing your cache and cookies to view the Xbox.com sites, or tried a difference browser?

It is definitely Verizon's problem, and not just with Fios.

Most of Baltimore and outlying counties seem to be affected.

My brother has DSL and cannot log onto ANYTHING Microsoft from home.

My cousin has fios. We called him this morning and he cannot get on MSN Hotmail etc.

I live in between both of them about 15 minutes away, but I have Comcast, and have no problems what so ever.

HA HA !!!!

Glad, well, not glad, but relieved that there seems to be an answer to the problem. I live in a county near Baltimore with Verizon as my ISP and the same issue. However, I have two 360s in two different homes (my parents are separated), and both homes are in the same county, however the 360 at my Dad's is the only one with this issue, and all is well *knocks on wood* at my Mom's. However, at my Dad's I can connect to everything Microsoft except Xbox Live. Weird stuff.

In that case, it might be a different issue. You may want to create a new post in which you answer the questions in the "Start Here" sticky.

My Live randomly started working yesterday.

I don't think it was Verizon's fault. I was only having trouble with Xbox Live. I wasn't having any problems accessing anything else Microsoft related like Sn1per Steve and GInkosu.
