Can Xbox one player's and Xbox series x talk in party chat?

Can xbox one and xbox series x player's be in party chat and talk to each other because my friend has the xbox series x and I have xbox one s,so I joined my friend party chat and my friend wasn't talking so does that mean xbox one and xbox series x can't talk to each other in a party chat?
I believe parties should be compatible. Might be something to do with your system settings since you just got the console.  Hope this helps

My friend got the xbox series x last week and the next day he couldn't send party invite to me I don't think but I joined is party chat by going on is profile then click join party and he wasn't saying anything so I send message to him to find he was there but I didn't get any response,so when I go on system settings what do I do after?

They are 100% compatible. They are the same console when it comes to XOS features and interface.

i think that you  would be able to do that because they most likely have the same thing and the same stuff just a little differents and microsoft is together so yea

Yes. The Xbox Series X|S consoles operate on the same servers as the One consoles, and run a seemingly identical operating system. Me and my brother- who uses an Xbox One S while I use the new Series X- party up with people all the time and don’t have issues.

It’s possible that your friend was muted, had network issues, or you had your game/voice ratio slider set all the way to game. It’s also possible that your friend’s microphone wasn’t working.
