Are XP points earned whilst playing games the same as microsoft points?

I seem to be earning lots of prize box whilst playing Gears of War and must have opened up several thousand XP points in these prize boxes. However in my account I only have 420 'microsoft points' earned for other things like renewing my annua; Gold membership...where do I find the XP points? Can I transfer them into 'microsoft points'? Help!!

Hey Furry. Any points earned in games are specific to that game. In Gears' case, you will gain XP points during matches that help level you up in that game. There is no conversion to MS points that happens. Items or XP earned in-game is specific to that game. The deal you mentioned where you got points for renewing seems to be because you are signed up for Xbox LIVE Rewards. I hope this clears things up, if not, let us know :)
