Error: "The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it." while trying to uninstall Itunes

Original Title: Trying to uninstall iTunes

I'm using Windows XP, and iTunes has worked fine until recently. I've not been able to upgrade the latest iTunes, but get the message, "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable."

After attempting to uninstall the program, the following message comes up:"The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it."

Apple Technical Support was able to help me remove all the components of iTunes (Quicktime, Bonjour, etc.) from my PC, except for iTunes. Instead, the message "This installation package is not supported by this processor type. Contact your product vendor" appears.

Really hoping Microsoft can help...

Hi,

The installation source for this product is not available.  Verify that the source exists and that you can access it.

Cause

The problem is caused by the following registry keys missing or partially missing:

· "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Patches"

· "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Patches"
