Vista Not updating

PC with Windows Vista and for no apparent reason it has stopped downloading the updates. They fail everytime I try to run them. I have not 17 updates that will not instal and every time I get error messages.

  1. What is the exact error message you receive?

I would suggest you to follow these steps and check if it helps.

Method 1:

If you have installed any security software on the computer, I would suggest you to temporarily disable it and check if the same issue occurs. Make sure you enable it once it is done.

Method 2:

Try resetting Windows update components and check if it helps:

Method 3:

Try performing clean boot and then try to update and check if it helps, here is the link:

Make sure that you put back the computer to normal startup mode once it is done.

Method 4:

I would suggest you to try downloading the updates and install it manually and check if it helps, here is the link to download:

Also check update history and find the kb numbers and errors associated with the updates
