error 0x80240009 PLEASE HELP

hey,

i am running on VISTA HOME PREMIUM 32-bit(SP 1 installed) and i have always had problems with windows update . i wanted to install service 

pack 2 long ago,but it wasnt successful-- saying that the system was not ready for it,and as it told me i went for the SYSTEM UPDATE 

READINESS TOOL(KB947821) ... and i ran it, and it showed: PRESS OK TO INSTALL HOTFIX FOR WINDOWS KB947821 ,when ok is 

clicked,after about 5 seconds an error appears saying : ERROR 0x80240009 ! now i am desperate to install SP2 as some apps require it ! PLEASE 

 

HELP !

Hi SakethS,

Step 1:

Try troubleshooting this issue with clean boot.

Refer the following Microsoft KB article:

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Note: After troubleshooting, make sure to put the computer to start as usual as mentioned in Step 7 in the above KB article.

Restart your computer and let any other window update operation complete.

Step 2:

Refer this below provided Windows help article and check for the issue.
