The Calendar App tile of Windows 8 computer is not working and also it doesn't show up on the lock screen.

Old title: Calendar live tile not working

The calendar, on the other hand, seems to work fine, but there is neither animation of the tile nor its information on the lock screen (I am sure it is set as it should for it to appear there). I know how it should look for I had it on my lock screen before.

Hi Muhammad,

Welcome to Microsoft Community Forums and thank you for choosing Windows 8. We are here to assist you with all your Windows related issues.

As per the given issue description, the Calendar App tile of your Windows 8 computer is not working and also it does not show up on the lock screen. I would like to have some details regarding this issue.

1.       You have mentioned that "The calendar, on the other hand, seems to work fine", Do you mean to say that Calendar App on the Start Screen is working fine?

2.       What exactly happens when you try to open the Calendar App from the Start Screen?

3.        Is the tile issue specific to the calendar app?

4.       Are you able to add any other Apps to the Lock Screen?

5.       Do you have any third party security program installed on the computer?

6.       Have you made any recent changes on the computer prior to this issue?

7.       Did you try any troubleshooting steps to fix this issue?

This issue might be due to some synching issues with the App. Let’s run the App troubleshooter and also try some troubleshooting steps and check the issue. I would like you to perform the following methods and let’s know the results.

Method 1: Run the Apps Troubleshooter

Let’s first run the Apps Troubleshooter and check if that helps. The Apps Troubleshooter is an automated tool which we have developed to address a number of known issues that can prevent the Apps from running properly. This troubleshooter automatically fixes some issues, including suboptimal screen resolution, incorrect security or account settings etc.

You can click on this link to download and run the Apps troubleshooter.

Method 2: Remove the calendar app from the lock screen and then re-add it again.

Step 1: Remove the Calendar App from the list to be shown on the Lock Screen.

a)       Press “Windows Logo” + “C” to display the charms bar.

b)       Click on “Settings” and then on “Change PC Settings”.

c)       In the Personalize tab, under “Lock Screen Apps” click on the Calendar App and then click on “Don’t show quick status here”.

d)       This will remove the Calendar App from the Lock Screen App list.

Step 2: Re-add the calendar app to the Lock Screen and check.

You can add the calendar app to the lock screen by following the instructions under the article: “Be reminded of important events” from this link:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/mail-calendar#1TC=t1

I would also suggest you to enable the notifications for the Calendar App and check if the tile shows the animations and that it shows the calendar details on the Lock Screen. You may do this by following the next method:

Method 3: Turn “ON” the notifications from the Calendar App.

If you are able to open the calendar app from the Start Screen or from the All App Menu, the open it and then follow these steps:

a)       Press “Windows Logo” + “C” to display the charms bar.

b)       Click on “Settings”.

c)       Click on “Permissions” and make sure that the options under “Notifications” and “Lock Screen” are turned “ON”.

d)       If they are turned “Off”, then you may turn them “ON” and then check the issue.

Hope this information helps you. If you need any further assistance or information regarding Windows please feel free to get back to us. We’ll be glad to assist you.
