How do i re-assign a network connection from public network to private network?

Windows 8 setup with ssl-vpn

I migrated a workstation from Windows 7 to Windows 8 and installed an ssl vpn client to access our business networks. However vpn ssl is not working as the connection was automatically assigned as a public network and Windows firewall is blocking incoming traffic. I cannot workout how to re-assign the network as a private network. Can someone please help?

 

I have the same ssl vpn client working on all my other Window 7.

 

In my opinion Windows 8 is a backward step. The O/S looks pretty, but I'm finding that I am wasting so much time trying to get basic things to work such as this.
