The Sims 2 Body Shop - Windows 8

I have successfully installed about half of my games  and EPs from The Sims 2 so far, thanks to the wonderful help from the Microsoft tech who sold me Windows 8 several days ago. I am happy to say my beloved game and expansion packs do indeed work, in spite of the word to the contrary on the internet. Do not throw away your TS2 games just because you upgraded to Windows 8!

The trick, by the way, is to set the compatibility to Windows XP, SP2. Play only from the original shortcut on the Desktop. If you need to patch - and patches are available  at the modthesims.info website if you bought the discs - save the patches to your desktop and then create a shortcut to each one on the same desktop, then set that compatibility to Windows XP, SP2 as well, when you install them. You can delete the patches and their shortcuts when you're done - if you want to save the backups somewhere else, do as you wish. I have noticed minor problems - the lightning bolts seem to be missing and I'm having some problems getting the CC to display (I've been wanting to get rid of a lot of it anyway) - but the increased performance and lack of glitches in gameplay far outweigh the problems.

However, this trick does not work with its companion program, Body Shop. I've done everything I did with the base game, the expansion packs and the patches, to no avail. I cannot get it to work and I'm getting error messages that the program is incompatible. Has anyone discovered a secret to get it  to work?

Hi Eller,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forums.

Based on the description, it appears that you are facing issues with playing Sims 2 Body shop game. I will be happy to help you with this issue.

1) Have you made any changes on the computer prior to this issue?

Step 1: I would suggest you to check if the Sims 2 Body shop game is compatible with Windows 8 Operating System.

Step 2: If the issue persists, I would suggest you to install the Sims 2 Body shop game in Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode and check if the issue persists.

Vijay, thank you for your response. However, if you read my question carefully, you would have seen that I already did those things (set the compatibility for Body Shop to XP SP2) and that I obviously made a change to my computer since I just installed Windows 8 and just reinstalled The Sims2 afterwards. That worked wonderfully for all nine of my actual games and expansion packs (which I have finished installing), but not Body Shop, which is separate from the game.

Body Shop is an editing program that packages and exports Sims into files that you can upload online onto sites like modthesims.info, thesimsresource.com, or generic file-sharing cloud sites where other players can download them. It came with the game. Although the game itself is playable without it, much of the fun of the game is designing characters and sharing them with other players online.

I don't understand why it isn't installing the same way the rest of the game is. I've tried troubleshooting, etc. The issue is persisting.

So i tried everything under the sun to make my sims 2 work for windows 8, from changing the compatibility on the properties to copying my old files on my previous laptop to my new laptop, and it still doesn't work. (i have the patches but i don't know wat to do with them for the game). I RELE don't want to buy sims 3 because i have all of the expansion and stuff packs for sims 2. So im basically running out of options.

Late here...but you should try TS2BodyShop.exe from last EP/SP you have installed, that's the way it works for me.
