Error 1310 writing to file: C\ Config.MSI\2115fa.rbf

Hello,

I am unable to install the latest update of Java (Java ™6 update 38). I keep getting the following error message:

“Error 1310 writing to file: C\ Config.MSI\2115fa.rbf. Verify that  you have access to that directory”

This is a new occurrence. I never had any problems before.

My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium  - Service Pack 1

Can anyone please help me?

Hi,

Try to reset the security settings back to default and check if it fixes the issues.

  • Type “cmd” without quotes in the start search box.
  • On the left pane, right click on the “cmd” option and select “Run as Administrator” on the bottom menu.
  • Copy the following command, paste it in command prompt.

secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verbose

  • You will receive a "Task is completed" message, and a warning message that something could not be done. You can safely ignore this message.

Hope this helps.

Hi BBTV,

Use these steps to configure full control permissions (for Administrators group) for the Config.MSI folder.

  1. Select Start > All Programs > Accessories.
  2. Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run As Administrator. A Command Prompt window opens.
  3. In the Command Prompt window, type the following commands exactly as they appear below. Include all spaces and quotation marks, and press Enter at the end of each line:

    icacls "C:\Config.Msi" /T /C /grant administrators:F

    exit
